Larson-Miller Medical Waste Disposal Service was started in 1985 by Mark Miller and Vern Larson. Both Mark and Vern were selling medical-surgical supplies and saw a major void in the community, what to do with Biohazard waste products being produced at the local levels.

At the time most major hospitals incinerated their own waste but the smaller clinics, nurse homes, doctors and dentist offices did not produce enough waste to justify owning and operating an incinerate or an alternative treatment system. Therefore, without an adequate method for disposing of their Biohazard wastes most offices would simply place all their Biohazard into the municipal solid waste stream. Thus creating a community hazard and endangering the solid waste haulers.
